Residential Surveying Careers Fair 2023 sees record turnout.
Yesterday (29th March), we hosted our 6th annual Residential Surveying Careers Fair; a learning and networking event dedicated to the surveying profession.
This year’s event saw a record turnout as we welcomed more than 400 delegates through the doors of the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Helping to make the day a success were 38 industry exhibitors from across the country, representing small, medium and large-scale surveying firms and associated businesses such as Prinsegate Chartered Surveyors, Camsure Home Surveys and GoReport.
A forum for the residential surveying community
The event provided a unique opportunity to bring together firms, surveyors, learners and those thinking about entering the profession, for a joint exhibition and conference with stages set up for a host of guest speakers.
At the Careers Stage, delegates enjoyed talks on establishing and growing their own surveying business and, conversely, what it’s like to work for a firm, as well as insights from Sava graduates sharing a glimpse into life after Sava. This included an inspirational story from Zoe Baker – former hairdresser – who now manages her own successful surveying business.
Zoe commented:
“Wow, what a day! I would like to thank Sava for asking me to be a speaker at the careers fair today and for organising such a fantastic event. It was an absolute honour to present to many aspiring and existing surveyors and business owners about my transition from being a hairdresser to an award-winning surveyor with my own business.
“It was also really lovely to engage with a few people from the audience after, with some questions they had about the course and the profession.”
Enhancing technical knowledge in residential surveying
Across the exhibition hall, the Technical Stage played host to speakers from across the surveying industry such as Nationwide, UKDP, Survey Booker and UKGlobal, enabling delegates to enhance their technical knowledge and earn CPD hours. Speakers shared their expertise on everything from EPCs and valuation, through sustainability and adapting to the green agenda, to an update from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) on the UK RICS National Supplement.
Rebecca Daley, Team Manager – Governance at Legal and General Surveying Services, commented:
“Brilliant day at the Sava Residential Surveying Careers Fair and Technical Conference at Coventry today. Lots of really insightful technical talks with a particular focus on sustainability, great to hear how different areas of our industry are looking at sustainability from technology to PII to lenders.”
Delegate and exhibitor feedback
Feedback from delegates has been overwhelmingly positive. One said:
“Was great to speak to a number of people from a variety of companies at the #savacareersfair. Really well organised overall and informative presentations.”
Another commented:
“…a really interesting day and great to meet so many property industry colleagues.”
The day was enjoyed equally by exhibitors. Katie Avery, Director at Avery and Co. Chartered Surveyors, said:
“As always, we had a fantastic day at the Sava careers fair today. We met some brilliant trainee surveyors, and it was also great to catch up with old friends, and be introduced to others within the residential surveying industry.”
And that sentiment was shared by Natasha Palczuk, Sava graduate and now Operational AssocRICS Surveyor at e.surv who were also in attendance.
“It was lovely to see so many new faces and some I’ve met before and be able to talk everyone’s ears off about a career that I truly love.”
Helen Orme, Head of Customer Engagement at Sava, commented:
“We hope everyone enjoyed the Sava Residential Surveying Careers Fair. It was great to see so many surveyors and learners using the event as a forum to come together, network and knowledge share. The world of surveying changes every day and it’s events like this that provide a valuable opportunity to get everyone in one room.
“On behalf of everyone at Sava, I’d like to extend a big thank you to our exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and delegates, without whom none of this would be possible. We hope to see you all again next year!”
