Sava graduate, Nasir Iqbal, was recently named a finalist in the Residential Surveyor of the Year category for the RICS Matrics Surveyor Awards 2024. We’re so pleased to have been part of Nasir’s journey into the profession and are delighted to see the many things he has achieved since graduating. As we count down the days to the RICS awards ceremony on 15th November, we caught up with Nasir to discover his top 3 career highlights so far.

  1. Intensive Assessment
Covid hit during my time studying for the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation, but thankfully I was ready to start the assessment stage of the qualification. I consider it one of my biggest achievements to have completed my assessments in just 13 weeks. It was hard work and I had to find several properties to survey, but the intensive experience helped to build my confidence when conducting Level 2 surveys.
  2. Bespoke Business
After a short time working with a corporate surveying firm, I decided to take the leap and start my own business. My goal was to build a firm that offers a bespoke and personal service to each and every client. By focusing on just one survey a day, my aim is to deliver detailed and comprehensive reports, always putting the client’s needs first. In the first year, Smart Home Surveyors achieved more than 50 five-star reviews.
  3. RICS Recognition
Being shortlisted for a RICS award is validation of the hard work, dedication, and passion I’ve put into my career as a surveyor, and it inspires me to continue striving for excellence and pushing the boundaries of our profession. But the achievement isn’t mine alone. I am extremely thankful for the incredible support I have received from my mentors, colleagues, and family who have been with me throughout this journey.

It feels incredibly humbling and exhilarating. It’s an honour to be recognised by such a prestigious organisation. I am very grateful to be considered alongside such talented peers.

Helping homeowners understand their properties better. I enjoy identifying issues and providing solutions that enhance safety, comfort, and value – the things that make a real difference in people’s everyday lives.

The winner of the residential property category of the RICS Matrics Surveyor Awards 2024 will be announced at the ceremony on 15th November.
