Environmental & Social.

Our sustainable impact doesn’t stop at the services we provide our customers. We believe in leading by example, so we embed a commitment to social and environmental standards in everything we do.

What drives us?

Sava strives to reduce our environmental footprint, enhance employee well-being, and making positive social impact through our work and the way we run our business.

Sava’s core business is defined by our efforts to reduce the energy consumption and carbon footprint of UK homes that comprise 22% of UK carbon emissions.

Our Planet: Our Business

How can businesses help tackle the world’s environmental crisis? We include this film Our Planet: Our Business to help spread the word of the immense value of nature to our economy and the critical role that business can play in creating solutions at scale.

What we do in the next 10 years will affect the next thousand.

Sava will reach net-zero climate impact by 2030

We are a signatory to the UK Government’s SME Climate Commitment. Sava has committed to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.

We will disclose publicly and on a regular basis our progress towards this commitment. This disclosure will also include how, during our transition to net-zero, we compensate for all our emissions, including those from travel, by investing in carbon-reduction projects certified to international standards.

Supporting Education

The Sava bursary at Loughborough University provides cash bursaries to support students from low income backgrounds or the care system.

In particular, Sava supports students who want to study STEM subjects. Sava has committed funding for the period of 2022 to 2025 to help 3 new students each year, for each year of their degree programme.

Making our company cars better

Since 2020 we have been investing in swapping out Sava funded diesel company cars with electric vehicles. 63% of cars have so far been swapped.

We have installed an EV charging post, offering 100% renewable electricity free of charge to team members and visitors to charge their vehicles.

Empowering our People

Sava team members give their time and talent to make a difference. Each employee is given 5 days of additional paid leave each year to work on social impact initiatives, often for charities or community groups.

Sava team members are also encouraged to fundraise for charity, with the added incentive that any monies raised, Sava will match the amount raised, as a minimum.

Making our own building better

Investing in energy efficiency improvements can be problematic as a tenant, since the pay back on investment can often be longer than the length of the remaining lease. Nonetheless, we have invested significantly in reducing our own carbon footprint in the leased office building we occupy in Milton Keynes. Click on each icon to read about some of the carbon cutting investments we have made since 2020.

  • LED lighting

Our £12k investment in LED lamps and light fittings has cut the carbon emissions from our office lighting by an estimated 74%.

  • Efficient gas boiler and heating controls

Our £13k investment in upgrading our heating system, including replacing the 25-year-old floor mounted boilers with a 91% efficient Valiant boiler has cut our carbon emissions from space heating by an estimated 32%.

  • Local hot water production

We decommissioned the original centralised hot water storage tank and circulation pump, and replaced with under counter on-demand heating with minimal storage.  This is estimated to cut carbon emissions from hot water production by 83%.

  • EV car charger

In 2021 we installed a 2 x 11kW EV charging post for the convenience of Sava team members and visitors.
