Dean Wild, a Sava Graduate

Dean Wild is a Sava graduate who joined the Diploma in Residential Surveying Valuation as a Japanese Knotweed specialist and is now enjoying the flexibility of doing freelance work.

We recently caught up with Dean to get an understanding of his experiences with the Sava diploma and the Q&A is summarised below:

Q) What made you consider a career in residential surveying?

A) I’ve always been interested in buildings and how things work. Surveying was always the natural progression for me.

Q) What is it in particular that drew you to Sava and the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation

A) The thing that drew me to Sava was being able to qualify right after the assessment. I have been to university and didn’t like the whole process. This felt a lot more like me.

Q) Would you recommend the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation to others looking to pursue a new career? (If so, why?)

A) I would recommend the Sava diploma. The tutors are very knowledgeable. I know of others that have done a degree and then done the Sava diploma for the practical knowledge from trainers that are actively in the role.

Q) What would you say has been the highlight of the qualification process so far?

A) Being able to call myself a surveyor. I feel surveying is a credible profession and very well thought of.

Q) Do you have any plans now you have qualified?

A) I plan to go self-employed and am using my knowledge to invest in property

Q) Did you work while completing the diploma? If yes, please tell us how you found managing both work and completing the diploma.

A) I found working and studying easy, I really enjoyed learning about the subject so it didn’t feel like I was pressured into doing anything I didn’t want to do.

Q) What tips would you give learners who go through the process?

A) Make sure you read lots of books, not just the ones Sava provide!
