Martin Druce – A Sava Graduate

Martin Druce ran an architectural services company before starting his journey to become a Residential Surveyor with Sava. He recently completed The Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation and we caught up with him to get an understanding of his experiences, the Q&A is summarised below:

Q) What made you consider a career in residential surveying?

A) A career in Residential Surveying presented the chance to be less office-bound, with the opportunity for more career variety and social interaction while vocational with my existing skills and experience.

Q) What is it in particular that drew you to Sava and the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation?

A) The Sava Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation provided an alternative undertaking as a part-time qualification, offering a direct route to professional RICS registration while compatible with my existing work-life balance. Combining this with mentorship under a chartered surveyor throughout the qualification process provided the perfect bridge in applying classroom theory and gaining practical experience.

Q) Would you recommend the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation to others looking to pursue a new career? (If so, why?)

A) Most definitely. I enjoyed the qualification experience, which was engaging thanks to the Sava tutoring team and the course intake comprising diverse candidates with their own life experiences and career backgrounds. If you are prepared to invest in the learning and commit to the qualification, the components are all there to enrich you personally and professionally.

Q) What would you say has been the highlight of the qualification process so far?

A) The personal sense of achievement upon completion of the qualification, especially after being thoroughly competency-tested by an experienced chartered surveyor during the assessment phase!

Q) Do you have any plans now you have qualified?

To embark on a surveying career within a practice that will allow me to further my experience and professional development.
