MK Food Bank – Helping those in crisis in Milton Keynes

The Food Bank has been supporting the Milton Keynes community with emergency food parcels since 2004. Relying solely on donations of food and money from the local community, schools, churches, & corporate sponsors, they distributed over 27,500 parcels to Milton Keynes residents in 2020 alone.

The Sava team wanted to help this great cause during the Christmas period and donated essential food items such as cereal, tinned food, pasta etc. The Christmas period was the busiest one yet for the MK Food Bank resulting in more people than ever being supported.

“Christmas time is the season of giving, and we are always overwhelmed by the generosity of the Milton Keynes community to others who may not have as much. This year could see a particularly difficult winter for many more families and individuals, with the removal of the Universal Credit uplift and the end of the furlough scheme as well as soaring energy costs.
Because of this, we have decided to focus our 2021 Christmas Appeal on reaching as many people as possible, stocking up cupboards with essential items, as well as some Christmas treats.” – Louisa Hobbs, Operations Manage, MK Food Bank
