Meet Hayley.

A day in the life of Hayley.

I started working on Saturdays at Sava (which was then National Energy Services) back in 2008, helping with the catering for training courses and on the reception desk. I moved into a role at another company but when I heard there was a trainee position in the Compliance and Technical Support team, I jumped at the chance to apply. Luckily, I was successful, and I have been working here ever since!

A typical working week for me is usually quite varied which keeps things interesting. One day my focus will be on content for a technical bulletin–our regular publication providing technical content for residential surveyors–the next day I might be setting up software accounts for a new intake of our learners. Along with the technical bulletin, I also put together our monthly newsletter and recruitment bulletin, so I’m always looking for interesting content for those. I provide support to our members and learners using our in-house Home Condition Survey software. I also help with technical content for our Diploma programme on Sava Learn, and I’m happy to help with any other tasks as they arise.

As well as all of that, I’ve also recently started on the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation, so I’m now a Sava learner too!

I’m really excited to be on the journey as a Sava learner. I wanted to do the diploma as I realised that I have in fact learnt a lot over the years carrying out my day-to-day role, and now felt like the right time to undertake the course myself and experience the whole process as a learner. Working at Sava I was well aware of the commitment required and know that it wasn’t an easy qualification to undertake but I’m really enjoying the process and looking forward to putting everything into practice when I reach the assessment stage.

The reason I most like working at Sava is because of the people! I know it’s cliché to say we’re like a family, but it really does feel that way. I feel valued here and everyone respects each other.”

It’s all about the people

The reason I most like working at Sava is because of the people! I know it’s cliché to say we’re like a family, but it really does feel that way. I feel valued here and everyone respects each other – not all places of work are like that. We’ve set up running clubs, participated in volunteer work, had summer boat trips, and more.

We have a great working environment and there’s never a dull day at Sava. The directors and managers care about the team and are always willing to accommodate requests and encourage the development of team members.

In 10 years time I would hope to be a qualified residential surveyor, and doing some work out in the field, but still working with Sava, if not full time, at least in some way.

In my spare time, one of my passions is music and singing. I sing in a rock band called HAYDEES. On the weekends we get together to jam, practice our music and write new songs and do some gigs. I also enjoy keeping fit and mud runs. My spare time now also involves delving into residential surveying books!

Environment & Social

Sustainability isn’t something we just talk to others about. Sava strives every day to reduce our environmental footprint, enhance employee well-being, and making positive social impact through our work and the way we run our firm.
