We are pleased to announce a new residential surveying course in Surrey scheduled for February 2017. The course will take place at the stunning Horsley Park Hotel on the Horsley Estate in Leatherhead and is now open for enrolment.

Residential surveyors are the backbone of the residential property industry. They are specially trained to identify property defects and provide an impartial report to homebuyers looking to purchase a new home. Commissioned by the homebuyer, the residential surveyor assesses the condition of the property to ensure the buyer’s dream home isn’t a nightmare in disguise.

We offer a contemporary approach to training, delivering part-time courses via a blend of face-to-face and distance learning, meaning you can gain an industry-recognised qualification without giving up your existing work and family commitments. Unlike a surveying degree, the SAVA diploma places a specific focus on residential property and our graduates can gain direct entry into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) once qualified. This prestigious membership is recognised by surveying firms and the general public as a badge of quality and professionalism.

The qualification gives Sava graduates the opportunity to work independently for a more flexible career, or to seek employment in a surveying firm, offering homebuyer surveys such as the RICS HomeBuyer Report and the Sava Home Condition Survey.

The course is delivered by university lecturers and expert chartered surveyors with ‘on-the-tools’ experience, and students are given ample opportunity to put theory into practice with several residential site visits included in the training schedule.

One student, Ewa Wolska, is partway through completing her diploma and was particularly attracted by the promise of RICS membership after she qualifies.

“I chose the diploma because I wanted to learn from the professionals – from people who work every day in the property field and who have experience in surveying and valuation. RICS accreditation was also essential for me.”

Since starting the course in October 2015, Ewa has begun working part-time for a surveying firm, gaining work experience and putting her new skills to the test.

Hilary Grayson, head of surveying services at Sava, comments:

“We have previously delivered courses in Milton Keynes, Brighouse, Barnsley and London, and have added a new course date in Surrey due to popular demand. As our presence across the UK increases, we are fast becoming the training provider of choice for career changers looking to break into the surveying industry.

“The diploma is the only qualification of its kind and offers a competitive alternative to university education. This is especially beneficial to those who, for whatever reason, cannot afford the time and expense of an intensive full-time degree. At Sava it is our mission to train the next generation of surveyors and valuers and we have a wonderful team of people who are dedicated to ensuring the success of every learner that enrols on the course.”

We now have two courses open for enrolment in 2017 including the new course date in Surrey starting on 22nd February 2017, and a course in Milton Keynes starting on 27th February 2017. Further dates in Birmingham and Manchester are due to be announced in the New Year.
