Bill’s Top 3 Surveying Career Highlights
- Community action
Working with schools, colleges and universities, and collaborating with professional bodies, I aim to inspire young talent to pursue surveying and equip them with the skills and enthusiasm needed for long-term success. It’s all about real-world experience, hands-on opportunities and mentorship. This is part of my ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between education and employment, ensuring the future of the profession remains strong and dynamic. - Managing a firm
Taking on the role of Director at Holdens Chartered Surveyors has been one of my most rewarding achievements, leading and growing a team of 14. I’m particularly proud that we maintain a strong female-to-male ratio, demonstrating our commitment to inclusivity and diversity in the workplace. The 43 five-star Google reviews we’ve received from clients highlights our commitment to excellence and the hard work and professionalism of the team under my leadership. - Next gen support
As the Chair of Lancashire Matrics, I’ve been dedicated to assisting aspiring surveyors with their RICS assessments through workshops and support programmes. This has allowed me to contribute to the growth of the next generation of surveyors by providing them with mentorship and resources to help them excel. It’s rewarding to see candidates successfully progress in their careers, and it feels great to foster a sense of community and give back to the profession.
How does it feel to be a finalist in the RICS Matrics Surveyor Awards 2024?
It’s an honour to be recognised for the second year in a row. This validates the hard work and dedication I’ve invested in both the profession and the local community, motivating me to continue driving positive change.
What’s your favourite thing about being a surveyor?
Definitely the opportunity to give back, whether by helping clients reach their goals or by mentoring aspiring surveyors. It enables me to make a meaningful impact on the profession and the people around me.
