Introduction to Understanding Law.

This qualification covers the principles of how English law is made. If we are unaware of the law-making process, we may not fully understand our rights and responsibilities under the law, which could lead to unwittingly violating laws or failing to assert our rights. The qualification covers the characteristics of English Law, the sources of law, and how legal rights can be enforced.

  • The characteristics of English Law including why law is needed, the importance of working within professional and ethical standards and the ways civil and criminal law can impact property professionals
  • The primary sources of English law, including the two main sources of law, secondary sources of law and court hierarchy
  • How legal rights can be enforced, including civil litigations procedures and the methods of alternative dispute resolution
